Markers are easy to blend, and are really vibrant, which is part of why I love using them. When I do marker illustrations, I almost always draw people or animals, with not too much of a background. I might sometimes add grass under a character’s feet, or a mushroom and a tree stump, but I never really color in a sky, or add detailed scenery. Among the animals I might draw are humans, dogs, cats, and birds. Unlike watercolors, I might branch into shading with a color out of the color family of the base. I might shade skin with a blue, for depth, or shade something with yellow for some sort of yellow light source.
